How did we let Zionism become a dirty word?

I think that we should avoid using the word Zionism… you know how people react to THAT term” I was sitting in a meeting with other leaders from Zionist movements discussing a new educational campaign for Jewish young adults in the United States. I expected ideological bickering within the Zionist spectrum, but I absolutely did not expect to hear one of the prominent Zionist leaders shy away from the word Zionism!

To me, Zionism is as simple as basic human and civil rights… I was determined to explore the reason that something so basic could be twisted into something so complex – so evil. I have spent the last twenty years learning the rhetoric of my fellow Jews to try and better understand where we went wrong. From Biblical times through Napoleon to the 21st century … We seem to be our own worst enemy …
